I didn't know we were going to continue using these one's for this class, so I didn't think to try to get on here last week and write.
Anyway....
I like the challenge of this class. I like the feeling of being back in class and applying myself. I like having to make time for this stuff and like the feeling of getting work done. Speaking of work; I have just started to work at the "farm" here on the res. again.
I stay busy, on my feet, nearly more than half the day. Right now we are handling fiddle heads; so non-stop it's cleaning, and then the process of blanching, and then weighing and packaging. The finished products look real nice and we hope to sell them to the grocery stores and we even had a proposal today from a Chef from Quebec City about buying them. It's something small to start out with. We have a strawberry patch a little over a half of an acre, and we will be harvesting those throughout the summer.
I started on this project the summer of '05 training for Organic Agriculture. The following summer is when the Band started its own Organic project. Last summer I was in Long Beach California in a Job Corps Program where I got Certified for Business Clerical, and now I'm back at "the farm".
I enjoy Agriculture and learning about plants and their properties. I love nature and being outdoors; Summer's my favorite.
